Onnenkieli Oy has specialised in teaching Finnish using the suggestopedic teaching method. Besides Finnish, English, Russian and Estonian are used as languages of instruction. Since 1992 students from approximately 90 countries have studied in Onnenkieli courses.
Apart from teaching Finnish the courses aim to help immigrants in Finland to understand Finnish society and its ways and to open up new horizons to immigrants. Onnenkieli wishes to bring joy to its students’ everyday life and to give means for lifelong learning. Teaching is based on the suggestopedic method that enables the use of a new language even during the first lesson. Pleasant classrooms with plants and comfortable chairs encourage happy and active atmosphere where language is learned mainly through emotions and interaction.
